This project replaced deteriorated piping systems during a one week shut down in May of 2023. The work consisted of replacing hydrogen cooler condensate piping, HCL acid valves, deteriorated flanges on chemical systems, chlorine contaminated condensate drain system, and vapor condensate cooling piping. All existing piping was replaced with titanium.
Detailed planning during preconstruction was required to develop the specific titanium weld procedures, access plans for the various pipe systems, and a plan for extended working hours to meet the plant schedule requirements. The project was successfully completed within the outage window and has led to more work at the facility.
