Columbia Wastewater Treatment Plant Secondary Treatment Expansion Program

We provided fabrication and installation of upsized piping for three mixed liquor aeration basins. This new 24-inch piping will be used to facilitate future pump capacity upgrades for the plant’s ongoing expansion.

This work took place in an operating facility that required 30-day turnarounds for each basin to meet and maintain the operating capacities for the plant. In addition to the short turnaround durations, there were weight capacities in the work area that did not allow for a reach forklift to assist with the placement of the 24-inch pipe in the basin. A custom rigging scaffold was utilized in each basin with a rolling picking point. Once the piping was installed, our concrete crew formed, placed, and installed new concrete piping collars to create a new watertight seal.
