Oneida Unit 2 Disassembly Project
Mechanical Rehabilitation
See attached PROJECT PROFILE

The Oneida hydro plant is located on the Bear River approximately 15 miles northeast of Preston, Idaho. The project consists of (3) 14,500 KW Solid State Excitation generators with I.P. Morris, Vertical Francis Turbines.  The generators were installed in the early 1900's.

In late 2003 the JR Merit team was called upon to deploy our mechanical team to evaluate the condition of the unit and develop a disassembly plan.

The generator shaft was broken just below the slip ring and brush collector assembly at the circular keyway. This allowed the unit to be moved downward. The brakes were destroyed, the bottom of the rotor rubbed on the brake housings causing damage to the bottom of the rotor poles and the rotor windings.
